Default Thought for Dog Lovers ...

So my daughter phones for a weekly update, and begins telling me about the merits of Poochie's on Dempster, which leads me to Greasefreak.com, which leads me to this very informative article on exactly what emulsified forcemeat is made of ...

... all dog lovers, enjoy ... hey, maybe another local AGP.net outing ?

Yes, we must ... good to great dog places are not easy to find in the northwest suburbs ... there was a very good place on Golf Road that had char dogs and also cheddar burger which I loved ... now closed.

There also was a Greek Eatery in Rolling Meadows/Arlington Heights with feta burgers ... lunch special was a feta burger with a lemon soup opener ... man, that was good ... in fact, one of my proposals to Jill was there ... hmm .... ... sadly it is now a Pepe's Mexican Restaurant ...

I don't get into Chicago for lunch that much anymore ...

Well, I never ate there but at least I got to drive by it once.

We'll take another pass at it next time you hit town. The best way to do it is to get there right after they open, just before the lunchtime vultures descend upon that place....

Cool Re: Thought for Dog Lovers ...

I think when we get to the new place, we should formalize this....and come up with a system for rating hotdogs and the fine establishments that offer them. I travel a fair amount, and will try to "report from the road". Certainly anyone that wants to contribute is encouraged...but I think that since Lost started this thread, that he and I should serve together as the Siskel and Ebert of all things encased meat!

Right then. But can you stop saying "encased meat" please? It's, well, you know. Weird.

Trust me....you won't think it's so weird once you get to Hot Doug's. I actually liberated that term from him. He is one guy I think that "got it right"!

Buried one for a school experiment when I was a young 'un.

Damn thing refused to decompose - even after a year in the compost heap!!

Haven't scoffed one since: If maggots and worms won't touch 'em, can't think why Stinky should...

I think you can say that about most any heavily processed foodstuffs. Not all food is heavily processed. The Hot Dougs place I am referring to makes their own dogs fresh, including fresh cut french fries....no frozen stuff on their menu. Get this...aside from the fries being fresh cut, on Saturdays they cook em in goose fat for those willing to thumb their noses at clogged arteries !!!! It's pure poisin, but it is unbelievably good.....

Cool Re: Thought for Dog Lovers ...

I didn't make this one up. The guy at Hot Dogs coined that phrase and uses it in his slogan.
