So, why can't we go out to dinner BOTH nights!

I'd love some good Indian food one of those nights . . . perhaps the night of TMB we should shoot for somewhere close to the venue?

Glad to hear there's still Transatlantic tix available too . . . it will be the end of the month before I can even think about doing that.

This looks cool:

Wilde Bar & Restaurant

3130 North Broadway Street, Chicago, IL

wildechicago.com

The new meters have a 2-hr. or 4-hr. limit. Parking is free after 9 pm according to the city webpage. So one would have to park no earlier than 5 pm or 7 pm, depending on the meter (unless one wants to take a chance on a ticket).

The side streets around the area are permit sticker parking only.
I was in Chicago today and swung by The Vic …

Typical northside juxtaposed weirdness (I grew up on the southside … LOL) …

Parking is a hodge-podge … 2 hr. and 4 hr. meters as expected, but mingled with spots of free parking and no parking. Open free spaces are rare …

The best garage appears to be the one directly across the street from the venue … and the one recommended on Ticketmaster … it is an enclosed parking garage attached to a newer condo project … the Vic Residences ( CPS Parking 1-888-578-PARK www.parking.com ) … the website says 24 hrs. for $10 (have to see this to believe it!).

I also noted a Leona’s about ½ block to the north, which is a more casual eatery … maybe something to consider ... menu

There are a lot of other pubs/restaurants around … but a good walk to The Vic.

The previous one I mentioned above, Wilde, is about 5/8 mile …

That restaurant you mentioned, Wilde, looks very cool. That would be OK with me. Then again, that Leona's has a bit of history where it concerns us. Several of us ate there with Nardelli and Gerard back in 2006. If I recall correctly OG and Fritzie, bless his absent heart, had some loaded fries there. I don't care where we go. Either is fine, but here's the carry-out menu: https://ssl8.secure-svr.com/carry-o...cationid=000004

And yes, Diane, I was figuring if Mood didn't want to host anything that we would go out both nights. Long ago he said he wanted to host something, so I wanted to give him the option. We can do Indian--it's better out my way, so someone will have to get Brent--Kurt, you can do that on Friday night, yes? You know what, we can do India House, where we took Muff when he was in. I haven't been there since!

Sounds yummy!

And either of the restaurants near the Vic are OK with me - y'all decide.

And I figured parking would be expensive - last time when I parked to go to Park West, it was $30!

We'll get in as early as we can on Friday - do you know what time Brent will be arriving?

Brent is coming in at something like 9 a.m., I think. So yes, try to leave Music City as early as possible so we can do something with him.

I suppose I could go with my original plan, and take both Thursday AND Friday off - get in Thursday night - have Friday to meet Brent and goof off . . . I'll let you know.

Still deciding what I'm doing - won't have the leave time to take Thursday off, but I might try to leave Thursday night and be there late Thursday/early Friday - depending on when I get to leave and how tired I get driving.

I'll keep y'all posted - looking forward to SEEING everyone!

It seems that Brent's status for coming here is in doubt, although Diane talked to him tonight and Brent is swearing that it won't interfere. Apparently Brent had lethal levels of potassium in his blood, something that points to a potential heart attack. He either has had some tests or needs to have more--the status is unclear. Let's all hope for the best for him. His health is more important than anything.

I talked to Brent - his spirits are good, but he's a stubborn guy - swears that he's coming to this even though it looks like he'll be in the hospital this week . . . we'll see.

Keep Brent in good thoughts that the docs resolve his health issues, and that Brent does what he needs to do to get/stay well . . .

An update:

I spoke with Brent late last week, and his potassium levels cam down, although he isn't completely out of danger. He continues to say he is coming in, so we will proceed as such.

Friday night, we will eat at one of the Indian restaurants in Schaumburg after Diane and JJ get in. Kurt will probably get Brent at his hotel. Anyone who wants to join us is welcome. The time will be dependent on when Diane arrives, so we will have to coordinate by phone. Lost, are you up for any of this?

Regarding Saturday, Lost is going to see whether Leona's or another restaurant in the city can accommodate our group. Because of some life events, we're not having as many people come in as originally thought. Saturday night's list will be:

Lost famly (4)
Diane (2)
Brent
TBC & Boxing Day (2)

That's a total of 9. Mood, what are your plans for either evening?

Also, Doug, are you planning on coming in with your brother? The last time you posted, you were hoping you could. Let us know for dinner arrangements.

Cripe, Mood, is this ever going to stop for you? Take care of the family.

Arlene - I've sent you an e-mail - looks like J.J. may not be coming, and I probably won't get to leave until Saturday . . .

Sorry for the delay, but I have been waiting to see what the weather man was bringing us. At this point, I will have to say it will be a no show for us this time.
